I may not be the best kid, 

But I'm always there.

I might sound rude or seem defiant,

You've always been a friend, a mentor and a lovely parent,

I've lost a lot and gained a few lessons in the process,

With your encouragement, I don't feel like a damsel in distress.

Time pauses when we sit and chat over a healthy drink,

Be it some soup or something; we bond within a blink,
